Muito feliz de participar da exposição coletiva Utopia Cuir – Derivas Depois do Agora que teve sua abertura no dia 04 de junho e segue aberta até 04 de julho, no Espaço UM55, em São Paulo/Brasil (Se ainda não foi ver, vá!). A exposição tem curadoria de Fred Oliver e traz obras de mais de 50 artistas. E ainda conta com diversas atividades (link). Aproveito para parabenizar o Fred e toda a equipe pela organização e dedicação. Agradeço também ao querido amigo Edu que me ajudou na entrega da minha obra, uma vez que estou aqui em Berlim <3.

Utopía Queer: El Entonces y Allí de la Futuridad Antinormativa

Há corpos que aprenderam cedo demais a diminuir a própria presença para sobreviver. Corpos treinados para o silêncio, para a clandestinidade do desejo, para a vigilância permanente de si como ameaça; marcados por heranças coloniais ainda ativas: pelo racismo que decide quais corpos têm endereço, quais têm obitúrio; e por formas de precarização que continuam definindo quem pode viver com dignidade e quem permanece à margem.
Mas há também algo. Algo que a violência não conseguiu nomear.
UTOPIA CUIR nasce desse lugar. Não como horizonte, mas como presença radical: insistência do afeto, do prazer e da imaginação dissidente quando domesticar o desejo virou projeto de poder.
O cuir aparece aqui como movimento, deriva e recusa. Não há consenso entre os corpos aqui reunidos; e é exatamente isso que os une. Uma linguagem instável que atravessa gênero, sexualidade, arte e existência sem pedir passagem, expondo os mecanismos que decidiram quais vidas seriam visíveis e quais, descartáveis.
Há aqui uma recusa do corpo dócil. Uma recusa da vida anestesiada. Uma recusa da vergonha como destino.
A exposição não termina nas paredes. Ela se prolonga em encontros, ações cênicas, performances e outras formas de presença que existem antes e além do que o circuito costuma chamar de arte.
Porque a utopia não está num amanhã distante.
Ela existe justamente agora:
no encontro entre corpos que se reconhecem sem precisar de permissão,
na criação coletiva de outras formas de presença,
e na recusa radical de desaparecer.

Exhibition Utopia Cuir – Driftings After the Now
I’m thrilled to participate in the group exhibition Utopia Cuir – Derivas Depois do Agora, which opened on June 4 and runs through July 4 at Espaço UM55 in São Paulo, Brazil. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check it out! Curated by Fred Oliver, the exhibition features works by more than 50 artists. It also features a variety of activities. I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Fred and the entire team on their organization and dedication. I’d also like to thank my dear friend Edu for helping me deliver my artwork since I’m in Berlin.

There are bodies that learned far too early to downplay their own presence in order to survive. Bodies trained for silence, for the clandestine nature of desire, for the constant vigilance of the self as a threat; marked by colonial legacies that are still active: by racism that decides which bodies have a home and which end up in a morgue; and by forms of precariousness that continue to define who can live with dignity and who remains on the margins.
But there is also something else. Something that violence has failed to name.
UTOPIA CUIR is born from this place. Not as a horizon, but as a radical presence: an insistence on affection, pleasure, and dissident imagination at a time when taming desire has become a project of power.
Cuir appears here as movement, drift, and refusal. There is no consensus among the bodies gathered here; and that is precisely what unites them. An unstable language that traverses gender, sexuality, art, and existence without asking for permission, exposing the mechanisms that decided which lives would be visible and which, disposable.
Here lies a rejection of the docile body. A rejection of a numbed life. A rejection of shame as destiny.
The exhibition does not end at the walls. It extends into encounters, staged actions, performances, and other forms of presence that exist before and beyond what the art world usually calls art.
Because utopia is not in some distant tomorrow.
It exists right now:
in the encounter between bodies that recognize one another without needing permission,
in the collective creation of other forms of presence,
and in the radical refusal to disappear.
